I first met Amy in 2007 when I was photographing her sister Erin’s wedding. Everyone in her family was so nice. I fell in love with them right away. Then four years later I had the honor to reunite with this family and photograph Amy and Ray’s wedding. I had a blast. There was so much love in the air, love between Amy and Ray, love among siblings, love from parents, and love from friends. It was an incredible day.

Now I have this tremendous task to summarize the wedding in a few photos. I don’t think it’s possible, but please join me to relive some of the highlights.

Amy and Ray, Congratulations! Guess what? When I first saw you two together at Erin’s wedding I just had the hunch that you would get married one day. I was right!

Oh, a bit of insider scoop: Amy’s beautiful wedding dress was found at a vintage store “Xtabay” in Portland, Oregon. The accompanying shrug was made by a Portland designer, Holly Stalder. The gorgeous hairpiece she wore was made by one of her bridesmaids, Amelia.

I had the great pleasure to document a wedding celebration for a favorite family of mine last Saturday. What a memorable event! I can’t stop thinking about it and have to post a few images to share my joy for this amazing couple – Amy and Ray.

She had been planning her wedding since she was little and finally she married the guy she’d been dating for nine years. He was doing a friend’s favor to pick up some girls who were visiting CA and who knew that he picked up her future wife! Last Saturday I had the pleasure to photograph an engagement session for Tam and Hon who are getting married the coming spring. It was a chilly morning so we chose to stay indoor and explore the Ecotrust building. Tam and Hon were relaxed and fun to work with, not to mention that they are a handsome couple to photograph!

Tam and Hon were brave enough to venture outside for a bit. Hon got very excited at this shot, probably because I told him that it’d be the last one.

Colleen and Don’s wedding at Leach Botanical Garden | Portland Wedding Photographer

I had the honor to photograph Colleen and Don’s wedding at Leach Botanical Garden last week. It felt warm and intimate, despite the weather. I’d like to share a few highlights here:

Don, a tough guy who rides motorcycles, choked up a few time when he exchanged wedding vows with Colleen.

It was wet, dark and cold outside. Colleen and Don got cozy and instantly warmed up the frame!

I had the pleasure to meet Diane Coats, her husband Mike Coats and their two daughters Leah and Erin for a family portrait session at Laurelhurst Park. We were lucky to have a warm sunny day in the changing weather of fall. Everyone was pretty relaxed and fun to be around. Here are a few of my favorites:

I asked Erin to do whatever she felt like at the moment and I got this … It looks like she’s acting in a Shakespeare’s play!

I love not only the girls’ smiles but also the way Diane and Mike look at their daughters with joy and pride. If you are parents you can relate!

When I take photos of the parents alone, they are no longer parents to me, they are husband and wife. And that’s a very endearing moment…

Lara and Eric’s wedding at Mt. Tabor Park | Portland wedding photographer

Lara Triback and Eric Wheeler got married at Mt. Tabor Amphitheater on Oct 10, 2010! Lara is a dear friend of mine and documenting their wedding was a very special experience. Their event was personal, genuine and heartfelt, just like the way Lara and Eric are! I want to share a few highlights here:

Lara once joked that I like photographing her crying and at one point at her wedding she came to me and said proudly, “See? I didn’t cry today!”. But that’s not true, Lara. I still have a photo of you crying out of joy!

Diana and Michael’s wedding at World Trade Center – part II | Portland Wedding Photographer

After Diana and Michael’s Vietnamese wedding ceremonies, we arrived at the Nines Hotel to take wedding portraits. The Nines Hotel has amazing decor and design, making it an inspiring venue for photographs. These modern visuals serve as an interesting contrast to the traditional elements of their wedding.

The celebration continued with wedding reception at the World Trade Center. I’m going to share a few that speak for the energy and emotion of the night.

It’s part of the tradition that the bride and groom visit table to table to thank guests for their blessings. The guests from one table insisted on Diana having a bite of the crab – everyone was laughing! I found it funny but didn’t understand the meaning behind it. Maybe Diana and Michael can fill me in?

Diana and Michael’s Vietnamese wedding – Part I | Portland Wedding Photographer

Diana and Michael have been wanting to see more photos every since the teaser I posted. They had a big wedding and there are a lot photos that I’d like to share. I’m going to dedicate this post to some highlights from the traditional parts of their wedding.

They had an extensive set of Vietnamese ceremonies, started with Michael receiving Diana at her house in the morning.

Michael got emotional the moment Diana was brought out by her father.

Another touching moment as Diana’s father patted Michael’s shoulder when Michael served him tea. Even though I don’t understand Vietnamese I could imagine him saying to Michael “Take good care of my daughter…”

Later Michael brought Diana to his house where they were introduced to other relatives and another ceremony took place.
