2/20/2007 - About tango photographs:
I have been trying to take different tango photographs over the past few years. I played with various lens, lighting scenarios, color reditions, and had good experiments and lessons. But ultimately, I don’t think I produce any better images. The photographs I like most are still the ones from the earlier days, when I didn’t take them as a photographer, but merely as an observor and admirer. It is in those close headshots that I find what drew me to tango at the first place - it is about the people, and the universal human feelings and desire.
I’m very grateful for those of you who asked me about the photos of Club Espanol. They are my favorites. I took them off from my website as I thought I could produce something new and better. I’ve been so caught up with making better photographs that I forgot that no composition, techniques, or lighting can substitute for the precious moments and genuine connection with my subject, just like tango! Now I put the serie back and you can find it under the “venue” gallery.
If you like my work and would like to use or publish it in any way, please let me know and I’d be happy to help you. I do demand your respect for my rights to my photography creation.
